Carmel Wade
Carmel Wade was born in 3rd June 1927 and was the first of Eight children to Patrick and Maureen Wade. She was born in Galloway but they moved to Cork where Carmel rose to stardom and was named The Child Singing Wonder. She joined the Cork Operatic Society and was trained by Anthony Moffitt (Mr T. A. Sheridan-Moffitt). Moffitt was a musician and composer who was the director of Cork Operatic Society (1936-1967). He also wrote and composed the song "Only one Star In the Sky," which was performed by Carmel. During her time performing, she sang at theatres such as Savoy, The Ritz, Theatre Royal and many across Ireland. Her career ended when she fell in love with Patrick Doyle. They married in 1949 and had one daughter together. They then migrated to England and settle in Rotherham where they gave birth to two other daughters. Carmel passed away on 3rd August 2005 and was left with her scrapbook which has limited newspaper clippings. Today, her family are still hunting ...
